The History of SIHHIn an effort to provide an alternative setting to the BaselWorld watch fair, in 1992 several independent watch brands created a separate event at the Palexpo Center in Geneva, Switzerland. The trade show, named "Salon International De La Haute Horlogerie", was an "invitation only" event for the watch industry and featured an exclusive, high-luxury atmosphere.Since its inaugural show, SIHH has grown exponentially, adding several mainstream brands as well as independent makers per year. From the original event featuring five brands, the 29th annual event being held this Spring will feature 35 exhibitors.
What Can We Expect To See At SIHH 2019?Unlike BaselWorld, SIHH is primarily an industry trade show for high-end watchmakers to showcase their upcoming models for retailers and is closed to the public for a majority of the event. The general public, however, is allowed to purchase tickets for end of the final day of the event to view the newest innovations and get a peek at upcoming trends.
Which Brands Will Be There?
This year's show will feature a total of 35 exhibitors, with 18 "Historic Maisons" and 17 independent brands in the "Carré des Horlogers" (Watchmakers Square):

When Can We See The New Releases?Actually, you can see some of them right now! As a runup to SIHH, many brands offer a "Pre-SIHH" release of some of their new releases to provide the public as well as their potential customers a sneak peek at what to expect at the show. The purpose of these previews are twofold: To generate excitement surrounding their upcoming models and to entice retailers to attend the event.Below are a few of our favorite "Pre-SIHH" 2019 models:
