The Doxa Watch Company is best known for its Sub watch line. Over many decades, they have been producing some of the most popular and purpose-built dive watches that are available to the general public. In 2019, the brand is celebrating the 130th year anniversary and is releasing several models to commemorate this notable milestone. In this article, we introduce you to their most recent limited editions, which are updated models of some of their most sought after dive watch models.
When discussing iconic dive watches, there are few brands that have the heritage and reputation than Doxa's diver models. Not only are they known as being dependable watches, they are also known for being one of the trailblazers of the modern dive watch. Starting with the debut of the Sub 300T models in 1967, the first dive watch available to recreational divers with a helium escape valve, Doxa's sole focus as a company has been creating highly functional tool divers.
In advance of the upcoming 2019 Baselworld watch fair, Doxa has announced reissues of two of their iconic dive watches -- The Sub 200 T-Graph and the Sub 200. Both of these models are being offered to the public in small limited edition series, which are meant to commemorate the company's 130th anniversary.

Sub 200 T. Graph

Up first is the new, limited edition, Sub 200 T. Graph Chronograph reissue. This model is limited to 13 pieces and features a case made made of 18kt rose gold as well as a classic NOS Valjoux movement. This is truly a unique piece and is sure to sell out immediately upon its release to the public.
The technical specifications for the watch are:
  • Case: 18kt Rose gold, Brushed & Polished
  • Case Diameter: 43mm
  • Crystal: Sapphire
  • Dial: Matte Orange with Black Indices, LE numbered
  • Bracelet/Strap: 18kt Beads of Rice or Orange rubber.
  • Movement: Valjoux 7734, 17 jewels, 18,000 bph
  • Power Reserve: 45 hours

Sub 200

Next up is the new, limited edition, Sub 200 homage to the iconic "Pre-Sub 300's" dive watches, which were released during the 1950's. This model is limited to 130 pieces in honor of the company's 130th anniversary and feature a nicely engraved caseback. Unlike the 200 T. Graph, the watch is features a case/bracelet made from 316L stainless steel and has a much more affordable price point.
Unlike the Sub 200 T. Graph LE, the Sub 200's design differ slightly from the original "Pre-300" models. The case is a slightly different shape, without the twisted lugs and the second hand is painted red. The model does, however, closely resemble the original design, but if you are looking for an exact match, these differences are worth consideration. The technical specifications for the watch are:
  • Case: Stainless Steel, Brushed
  • Case Diameter: 42mm
  • Crystal: Sapphire
  • Dial: Matte Black with SS Indices
  • Bracelet/Strap: 316L SS "Beads of Rice"
  • Movement: ETA 2824-2, 25 jewels, 28,800 bph
  • Power Reserve: 40 hours Water resistance: 20ATM / 200 Meters

Will There Be Any Other New Models?

This is the big, unanswered question on the minds of all Doxa fans. We are sure that this preview of these two LE models is just the tip of the iceburg in regards to what Doxa may have up its sleeve for the upcoming 2019 Baselworld fair. Only insiders know for sure, but what we do know for sure is if they release other editions of these two models, they will be sure to sell like hotcakes. For now, the only advice that we can give Doxa fanatics is to keep your eyes peeled in the coming weeks for more details for the additional 2019 releases by Doxa.
