William L. 1985 Chronograph

Watch Highlights

Founded by (and named for) ambitious watchmaker Guillaume Laidet, William L. 1985 watches are brilliantly executed and inspired by vintage 1950s style. Laidet originally set out to pay homage to a timepiece inherited from his great, great uncle, and no watch is more emblematic of this effort than the William L. 1985 Vintage Style Chronograph.

Conceived in Paris, this chronograph is powered by robust Japanese Miyota 6S21 quartz movement. The 40mm stainless steel polished and brushed case features ultra-resistant domed mineral crystal with anti-reflective coating, including a pull-out crown.

The clean black dial features highly legible hand-applied indexes, while Luminova treated Dauphine hands point to brilliant rose gold numerals. The watch also features a tachymeter scale, telemeter, and date window, as well as small second and 60 minute counters.

Led by Laidet’s passion and ingenuity, in just a few short years, William L. 1985’s wares have expanded into over 50 countries and 600 retail locations around the world.

The William L. 1985 Chronograph was originally offered as part of our Watch Gang Original subscription. To see all the previous Watch Gang Original timepieces we’ve featured, click here.

About William L. 1985 Watches: Founded by watchmaker Guillaume Laidet, William L. 1985 burst onto the scene thanks to Laidet’s mission of paying homage to a timepiece inherited from his great, great uncle. Bringing years of experience in the Swiss watch industry with him, Laidet has cultivated a collection of classically designed, quality timepieces available at an inviting price point. The fact that it all began as a crowd-funded project is emblematic of Laidet’s entrepreneurial tenacity, as well as a sign of modern watchmaking times.
